| Dutch Riding Horses and
Ponystudbook NRPS
stands for 'Nederlands Rijpaarden en Ponystamboek' (Dutch Riding Horses and Pony Studbook). It holds an unique
position among the Dutch studbooks as the only studbook to register both riding horses and
ponies. The NRPS was founded in 1981 and within a short period of time, the NRPS
has managed to gain a distinctive place among the Dutch studbooks and the equestrian
sports in general.
Since the beginning of 1997. the offices of the studbook
have been located at the equestrian center of the Royal Dutch Federation of Riding Clubs,
the KNF. This offers a number of advantages for the NRPS:
- The offices are located at a well-known and frequently used
equestrian location;
- The NRPS hosts al its national events at this
location;
- This situation offers good possibilities for co-operation
between the KNF the NBVR (the Dutch Association for Riding and Hunting Clubs) and the
Association of KWPN Stallion Owners.
The NRPS was founded as an association. The Board
of Members is the highest governing body. The association also has a General Committee and
an Executive Committee. The Board of Members is elected by and from the different
territorial departments. From each department 2 or 3 persons may be appointed as members
of the Board. A department with more than 500 members may appoint 4 Board members. The
General Committee consists of a maximum of 12 members (at present 7 members) including the
chairperson. Members are elected by the Board of Members on the recommendation of the
departments. The chairperson. secretary and treasurer are elected as such.
